Touched by Mandela
The Touch of Mandela Gallery Australia presents an exhibition of signed, original, limited edition lithographs by Nelson Mandela at the Riddoch Art Gallery until 26 September. It’s worth a drive to Mount Gambier to be touched by this inspirational man. For more info visit: www.touchofmandela.com.au or call 08 8723 9566. KJD
Eat it
Artists from around the state have been invited to exhibit works focusing on food in different cultures in a show to be called Eat culture. Works should have been completed in the last two years and ‘dissect culture and food themes’. It’s part of the Art of Living Festival in the City of Onkaparinga, and will be at the Arts Centre Gallery in Port Noarlunga in October. Contact Leeza Peters on 08 8382 0347.
Mentor on
The generosity of Optus and private donors have kept the Helpmann Academy’s mentorship scheme afloat for another year. Now called the Optus Mentorship Scheme, the new funds allow a new group of ambitious emerging artists to be mentored by arts industry professionals; a second wave of mentorships will be launched later in the year. The two visual arts graduates partnered with mentors in this round are Adelaide Centre for the Arts graduates Laura Wills, with professional artist Helen Fuller, and Sue Michael with James Guerts. The Optus Mentorship Scheme is open to all graduates from Helpmann Academy partners in the first year and second year following graduation.
