Regional ramblings
Passage represents the journey that the Lake Macquarie City Gallery is taking with the local Indigenous community. The exhibition brings together Aboriginal art from the area and throughout eastern Australia. It’s curated by artist Brook Andrew and runs until mid-October … On the corner of Keppel and Stewart Streets, Bathurst’s Warpstanza Gallery is exhibiting local and national art and hosting a film night for independent film makers on the third Wednesday of the month. Coming soon are Spencer Calveley and Brendan McCumstie and from 21 October. Call 02 6332 3080 ... Further afield, the Coraki Tea Tree Artsfest gets underway from 29 to 31 October. The locale is abundant with art prizes, workshops and musicians. There is $5,000 up for grabs in the Coraki Art Prize, including $1,000 Best in Show. The City of Sydney presents Art and About 2004 in the streets, parks and public spaces of Sydney from 5 to 24 October. Don’t miss the work of Australian artists in this three-week ‘visual arts fest’ of special exhibitions, events and workshops. Be charmed by twenty-six large-scale photographs in the open-air exhibiton, Sydney life along the central walkway of Hyde Park North.
