Auction Notes: Terry Ingram
Fred Cress, True Believers, 1974, 211 x 274cm, acrylic on canvas. Sold at Menzies Art Brands’ Major Fine Art Auction in Sydney (24 June) at the top end of its $90K to $130K estimate. Ingram writes: ‘The 16th century artist Pieter Bruegel the Elder painted crowds of ugly looking people but they [unlike Cress’s melee] tended to be having fun.’ Image courtesy the artist and Menzies Art Brands.
