A storm of fishtails HAYLEY WEST

As part of Eye of the Storm: 2009, The Northern Territory Writers’ Festival (1 to 4 May) local visual artists were invited to respond to a work from the 2nd anthology of Central Australian writing, Fishtails in the Dust, published by Ptilotus Press. Book launch and exhibition opening at Watch This Space Inc., Saturday 2 May, 6pm. The exhibition runs from 1 to 22 May.

The Photographs of Otto Tschirn: 1915–1918 runs until 17 May at Wichetty’s, Araluen Arts Centre, Alice Springs. Tschirn worked at Hermannsburg Mission as a stockman during World War I and his photographs capture life in the frontier environment of the time.

Requiem for Another by Pam Lofts continues throughout May also at the Araluen Arts Centre… Showing until 17 May in the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens is light and distance, a series of desert scapes by Ray Lodge rendered in pastel, pen and watercolour, and produced over a 3-year period while living at Mintabie and Alice Springs.
