Sculpture in the park

Congratulations to the organisers of Sculpture in the park that was held as part of the Darwin Fringe Festival in August when twenty-nine sculptures were installed at Civic Park, the Town Hall Ruins, City Mall and Raintree Park in Darwin. Coordinator Julie Milton was pleased with the public response to the installations and hopes the award will continue in the future as a major Darwin art event. Congratulations also to the winners who included Tobias Richardson for the major non-acquisitive award for his work Glimpse, which is the name given to the colour of the paint of City Mall. The work consisted of a series of painted objects that re-contextualise forms in the mall. Other winners were Paul Miller with Industrial totems, Jen Taylor with You don’t speak for me, Victoria Cattoni with The art of bouyancy, Cath Bowdler with Forest, Dripstone High School with Kinetic Didjs and Aly De Groot for her work Human nature.
